Description

This 1969 Ford Torino Cobra is powered by a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 and was acquired by the seller in December 1976. A multi-year refurbishment was started in 2015 and work consisted of repainting the body, rebuilding the engine, transmission, and carburetor, and replacing interior, brake, suspension, smog system, and steering components. The car is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery and equipped with a four-speed close-ratio Toploader manual transmission, a 3.50:1 Traction-Lok differential, ram air induction, power steering, power front disc brakes, body-color 14″ steel wheels, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Stewart-Warner instrumentation, and an upgraded Philco push-button AM radio.

The car left the factory finished in Candyapple Red and was repainted during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a functional hood scoop, hood pins, bright trim accents, chrome bumpers, body-color sport mirrors, Cobra and Cobra Jet badging, and polished exhaust finishers. The seller notes that the lower right rocker panel was repaired prior to the repaint.

Red 14″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are mounted with F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. A full-size spare is mounted in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The brakes are said to have been overhauled, the power steering pump, power booster, steering box, and leaf springs were rebuilt, and the idler arm, tie rod ends, bushings, and power steering control valve, cylinder, and lines were reportedly replaced during the refurbishment.
