Description
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe was the subject of a custom build by Classic Car Studio of St. Louis, Missouri, that was featured in the Velocity series Speed Is the New Black. The car was refinished in black over ivory and houndstooth upholstery, and a Chevrolet Performance 427ci V8 crate engine was installed along with a five-speed manual transmission and an Eaton TrueTrac limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes a Vintage Air climate control system, a hidden Kenwood audio system, Recaro front seats, drilled and slotted Baer disc brakes, 18″ Boyd’s wheels, and Detroit Speed and Engineering suspension with adjustable coilovers.
The body was refinished in black with white accent stripes during the 2017 build, at which time a mini-tub kit was welded in the trunk. Details include a rear spoiler, SS badging, simulated hood vents, and aftermarket headlights.
Five-spoke Boyd’s wheels measure 18×10″ up front and 18×12″ out back and are mounted with 275/35 and 335/30 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Subframe connectors were welded in place, and Detroit Speed and Engineering suspension components were installed, including fabricated control arms, a four-link rear setup, and double-adjustable coilovers. Braking is handled by drilled and slotted rotors along with Baer calipers.
