Description
This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra is a SportsRoof coupe that was delivered new to Sierra Ford of San Bernardino, California, and was acquired out of Canada by the current owner in 2015. The car is finished in red over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 429ci V8 joined to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a Ram Air shaker hood, a four-barrel carburetor, dual Flowmaster mufflers, Magnum 500–style 15” wheels, front disc brakes, rear window louvers, a Hurst T-handle shifter, and a push-button AM radio. Work performed under current ownership involved the completion of a cosmetic engine-bay refurbishment and a carburetor rebuild, and an oil change was performed and the battery was replaced in anticipation of the sale.
The car was finished from the factory in Medium Red (T) and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership. The car features a black Tu-Tone shaker hood, exposed hood pins, color-keyed mirrors, chrome bumpers, rear window louvers, and dual exhaust outlets with bright finishers. Close-up images of paint chips on the lower rear valance, passenger-side fender, and driver-side door along with other exterior blemishes are presented in both the photo and video galleries below. The selling dealer notes a crack in the black paint on the hood.
Magnum 500–style 15” wheels are mounted with F60-15 Firestone Wide Oval white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
