Description

This 1968 Ford Torino GT fastback was produced on April 2, 1968, for delivery to L J Dervin Ford in Novato, California. The car made its way to Canada in 2005 and was later refurbished before being purchased by the seller in 2020. Work performed since is said to have included overhauls of the brakes, suspension, steering and lighting in addition to rebuilding the carburetor and replacing ignition, exhaust, and cooling components. It is finished in red over black vinyl and is powered by a 390ci V8 linked with a C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 14″ styled steel wheels, front bucket seats, a center console, three-point belts, a radio, and a heater.

The car was originally delivered in Seafoam Green and was repainted red as part of a refurbishment performed under prior ownership. Exterior details include gold stripes, quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers. Evidence of previous bodywork is noted on the lower quarter panels behind the rear wheels and in the trunk above the taillights. Work since 2021 has included installing LED bulbs in the turn signals and taillights, repainting the grille, refurbishing the reverse light switch, and replacing the headlights and weatherstripping. After washing or rain, water is said to pool on the rear deck below the rear window corners.

The 14″ styled steel wheels wear trim rings and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires showing 2020 date codes. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums that received replacement front rotors and pads, rear drums and shoes, cylinders, a proportioning valve, a master cylinder, and a rebuilt booster since 2021. The parking brake cables, front wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods, and power steering slave cylinder were also replaced, and the power steering pump and steering box were rebuilt. Suspension components replaced in that time are said to include:

  • Coil springs
  • Leaf springs
  • Shocks
  • 1″ front sway bar
  • Bushings and links
  • Lower control arms
  • Upper ball joints
