Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette coupe was acquired in 2013 and was subsequently refurbished in two stages spanning eight years, during which time chassis and fabrication work was performed at Warman Autoworks of Kaiser, Missouri. The build was completed at Chris Carlson Hot Rods of Mulvane, Kansas, and the car was repainted in black with bronze and red stripes over black leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 350ci ZZ4 V8 equipped with a cross-ram intake manifold and an aftermarket electronic fuel-injection system. The chassis features a black powder-coated hammertone finish, and additional equipment includes a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, power rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel C5 disc brakes, staggered-diameter Schott billet wheels, composite mono-leaf springs, air conditioning, and a dual exhaust system with side pipes.
The body was placed on a rotisserie during the build, and it was refinished in black with bronze and red over-the-top center stripes. The car rides on a black powder-coated chassis with a hammertone textured finish. According to the selling dealer, the chrome has been replaced along with the weatherstripping and glass. Exterior features include a stinger hood, hideaway headlights, split bumpers, fender gills, and side pipes with slotted heat shields.
Schott Cover-Loc series Accelerator billet wheels are finished in bronze with polished edges and measure 18″ in front and 20″ out back. They are mounted with 245/40 Sumitomo HTR Z III tires showing 2013 and 2014 production date codes. A power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering assembly has been fitted along with ventilated four-wheel C5 disc brakes, the latter of which are equipped with a Wilwood tandem master cylinder and new C5 front calipers finished in black. Suspension work included the installation of transverse composite mono-leaf springs at the front and rear along with boxed front control arms.
